Boxes and BubbleWrap and Tape - Oh My!

We'll be relocating sometime this year, and some departments are already starting to get ready by packing up items which are infrequently used.  If you have strong, sturdy cardboard boxes (hello, Amazon!), excess bubblewrap or packing tape, please bring them to the Guild's front desk area when you come for classes.

President's Update
We're turning things around! Have you noticed that the front desk now faces the front door or that the phones are consistently answered? How about the fresh faces at the front desk? We hope you notice the improvements in our communications no matter how you connect with us, be it phone calls and emails, this newsletter, or the website. All are being improved.  A huge thank you goes out to the volunteer members who are making these improvements a reality.

You've probably seen me scurrying around the Guild with floor plans as I consult with instructors, department heads and students on layouts for our new location which are both functional now and allow for future growth.  The Relocation Committee is knee-deep in planning and meeting almost daily; we hope to be able to share more news about our new home and our relocation in the next month.

The Guild and I thank Lindsay Wisecup, who has resigned as Coordinator, for all of her hard work and dedication to the Guild, If you know of anyone interested in the position of Coordinator, please contact me. In the meantime, ask your department chair how you can assist them in planning and packing for the move.  If you have resources available that might aid the overall move (trucks, packers, supplies, etc.), please let me know. You can always reach me, Douglas Curran, at

Give the Gift of Creativity to a Child You Love

Did you know the Craft Guild offers a wide selection of creative summer camps for children? Ranging from learning to throw on a potter's wheel, to fusing glass, to binding their own book, these highly popular classes inspire and captivate children aged 6 to 16.

Brighten the summer of a child you love by giving them the gift of creative inspiration.

Select a class from our 2016 summer class schedule, and call us at 972-490-0303 to register your young artist now.

I signed up for a class and it was cancelled. Why does that happen?
Sometimes an instructor has a schedule change which causes a class or workshop to be cancelled, or the minimum number of students required for the class is not met.  Cancelled classes are frequently rescheduled; let us know if you'd like to be notified when it's rescheduled.

How do I get into the Guild's spring and fall shows?
As with most art shows and festivals, our shows are by juried admission, which means that a small jury, including external art experts, review the photos you submit along with the photos of other artists in your genre.
They see ONLY your photos (not your name, no information or input about your work), so the quality of your photos and their ability to show the quality of your work is critical.  Remember, you are competing for a limited number of spaces with advanced artists. Our best advice to applicants is to submit high-quality photographs of your very best work!
Members:  don't forget to take advantage of our free members-only workshops, such as the photography workshop on March 6, to learn how to take professional photographs that show your work at its best.
