Electro-Etching on Silver with Elizabeth Lyne

Students will learn how to transform their own drawings or imagery from copyright-free sources into high contrast, black & white images that are ideal for etching. Students should bring their images on 8.5”x11” paper.  We will be utilizing a page scanner, a computer with PhotoShop, and a laser printer to prepare the images.

Images will be transferred onto silver using PnP circuit board film and a t-shirt press.  Etching will be performed using cupric nitrate and electricity. This etching method produces no toxic fumes, and the solution can be filtered to recover all of the silver (which can then be melted or sent back to the refiner with your other silver scraps). After filtering, the solution can be used over and over again.

Jewelers Journey- Inspiration to Manifestation with Lesley Aine Mckeown

You’ve probably taken many classes where you learn how to make a project—often reproducing the instructor’s work. While that can be enjoyable, it can also feel ultimately unfulfilling. This 4 day workshop is not project-based; it’s about making art that is fundamentally yours.

All art begins with inspiration. In this course, we’ll start by exploring how what you see and how you feel influence your work, and how to use design principles to create jewelry that expresses your voice—not someone else’s. You’ll be encouraged to push beyond your comfort zone, design pieces you may not have attempted before, and experiment with techniques that are new to you.

This course is designed to go deeper—into who you are as an artist—so you can approach your creative process holistically and with greater confidence and authenticity.

Join Amy Roper Lyons for Plique-à-Jour Bowl in 3D, a five-day deep dive into one of enamel’s most radiant techniques, and craft a delicate, luminous bowl in fine silver and enamel.

In this intensive five-day workshop, students will fabricate intricate, light-filled bowls by building a three-dimensional framework from fine silver wire. Seeds and Pods - Making Beads with Jayne Redman

The simple process of stringing beads is so satisfying. It is primitive and peaceful. The beads themselves, however, can be basic or complex depending on design, material, and technique. Create patterns to make three dimensional beads using flat sheet and silhouette and non-conforming dies to make beads with contour. Blanking dies will allow us to quickly cut out multiples in metal. Use methods of assembly including stringing, linking, cold connecting, tab construction and soldering.

Learn how easy it is to make light, wearable, luscious hollow forms! Once you have mastered using your die, we will work on fusing or soldering your beads together and transforming them into stunning jewelry.
