This class is designed for students new to polymer clay. You will learn how to condition clay using a pasta machine and how to use the basic tools associated with this art form. You will learn single layer techniques using stamps, pigments, acrylic paint, foil and impression tools and also learn two-layer techniques using freeform and geometric shapes. Students will make a simple pendant, button or bookmark. Individual interests may also result in earrings or a piece of wall art. At least one finished product will be created during class time with the one-hour curing time included.

Students will create resist patterns for their feet, learn how to enlarge it the correct amount to allow for shrinkage, and then use the resists to felt custom wool slippers using wool roving. We will need 1 ½ -2 days to complete the pattern and slippers. At the end of our time, the slippers should fit your foot but will still need to dry; students will take the slippers home to complete the drying process. Students can embellish their item with a variety of beads, buttons, or fiber that they may have after the drying process has been completed (and they will supply their own decorative materials).

A “Secret Message Candle” is a gift with a little cheerful anticipation built in! What better way is there to remind or tell someone about your feelings than with a hidden message in a candle! Once the wax has melted, a secret message will appear. Your secret message will be hidden by a thin layer of wax and will appear in 15 to 20 minutes after the candle has been lit. Participants will create two different candles, in their choice of fragrances and messages.
In addition, as a bonus part of the workshop, attendees will learn how to blend different fragrance oils to create their own, curated scents!

In this class we will paint a woman and have some words that will go along with the painting, such as “I prefer to call myself Delightfully Difficult.” I will show you a simple way to draw the woman, add some details and then we will choose colors that are appropriate for you and begin painting.As we paint, I can show you how to add words in the painting in your own style of writing as well as stippling to define certain sections.

Come learn how to create lampworked pieces with Bullseye glass to use with your fused glass pieces. Glass rods will be melted over a bench mounted torch into several different shapes to add as embellishments. We will make stringers (straight, curves, thick, thin), leaves and petals. If time allows twisties will be demonstrated and may or not be made during class.

In this workshop, students will learn basic techniques for cutting, shaping, and polishing their own cabochons from instructor-provided materials, starting with oval and circular cabochons. Students will be instructed on proper use of lapidary tools and machines so that they may be permitted to use equipment during lab hours. Supplies: none needed. Students may wish to bring an apron and/or clothes that they won't mind getting a bit messy and something to take notes with.

These "Cactus Flower Succulent Candles" (perfect for any plant lover!) are almost too cute to burn. But they smell so good, you'll want to light them again and again. These beautiful and unique candles will fill the room with fresh green scents. This workshop is an excellent opportunity to learn how to use a hydraulic press. You will use the hydraulic press to add volume to your beads by applying pressure to the metal using a silhouette die. The hydraulic press will punch out the bead using a pancake die. You will learn how to solder two half domes to create a finished lentil bead.

This class is for students who have some experience with polymer clay, i.e., how to condition it and how to work with basic clay supplies/materials.
Students will complete two pairs of earrings (or more, if time allows.) Design/creation, baking and finishing will be completed in class. This class is designed to set you free to explore the limitless reaches of your creative jewelry expression. By now you have either taken my beginning Jewelry I class or have otherwise mastered the basics and are now ready and eager to move forward. Rather than choosing from the choice of materials (beads, gemstones, findings, etc.) provided in the kit for Jewelry I, you are to bring your own strands of beads, gemstones and other findings for this class. Bring your own tools as well; there will also be some available for class use. Your kit for this class will include upscale findings, an array of focal beads and some other goodies.
